Helps Team / Volunteering at Lighthouse / Getting Involved
Whether it’s helping in Paddy’s Soup Kitchen in Noble Park, our O.K. Opportunity Shop in the centre of Springvale or maybe mentoring in our Kids Hope Program in a local State School, there are many opportunities where you can be involved and bring change to our community. You could consider getting fit by doing letterbox drops, or help to maintain our gardens, or be part of our Hospitality Team. Whatever you like to do, there is room for you to be involved and make a difference.
We are grateful for the following groups who provide the practical support for the many functions in the life of the church:
Deacons
These guys are the backbone of the church. Firstly a deacon is a spiritual qualification requiring a life above reproach and able to be an example to others (1 Tim. 3:8-13). But secondly our deacons head up the facilitating duties for our main services with a team of stewards to help them. Every week they are on duty to make sure every service runs smoothly.
Stewards
The stewards help the deacons in facilitating every service week by week. Their duties include the comfort of the people, serving of communion, offerings, etc.
Welcome Team
Another great band of helpers! These people have that special gift and desire to make new people feel at home. Every Sunday they’re there to make your transition smooth – with a cuppa afterwards to finish it off.
Catering Team
Every house needs good cooks! We have a small team that loves to serve in this area, whether it is for banquets, or after church suppers.
